Dashing Through The Snow…

Hello Beautiful !

I’m convinced your Twitter feed, Facebook timeline, Instagram posts and everyone surrounding you have commented on just how cold it is. If you live in Canada, Quebec to be exact. We are pretty much frozen to the bone…Nevertheless, I am determined to never let the cold weather dictate my day. If I planned on going to lunch downtown, -40 degrees Celsius is not going to force me to stay home.

With that being said, it is often difficult to dress fashionably in such weather. It’s so cold you just want to layer away and leave the house. Yet, once you get to destination and you take off your coat, you begin to regret not taking the time to pick out a decent-looking outfit.

Here are a few guidelines to follow when getting ready…

1) Layer Correctly.

If you have on an oversized sweater, opt for tight jeans. If you have on a turtleneck, allow yourself to wear those boyfriend jeans… Its all about accentuating at least one asset so you do not look shapeless. Very often, people spend their winter in shapeless clothes and only when spring comes along do they notice they no longer fit in those skinny jeans or that tight v-neck.

2) Mix up the Textures and Prints.

Darling, stay away from that boring all black oversized granny sweater with those bland black jeans. Try a quilted jacket, a fitted striped blazer, a woollen sweater or a fur vest. Add some printed pants or some leather jeans. Winter is no excuse to be bland and boring. Looking amazing despite cold weather gives you extra fashionista points. Who doesn’t like that ?!

3) Cute Accessories.

As a child, I had one scarf, one pair of gloves and one hat to get me through the cold season. God forbid i lost a glove, my mother would scream at me till my ears started ringing. Now, I value having different accessories for different occasions. An elegant coat for professional days, one coat for everyday life and another coat for extreme winter activity days or extreme freezing days. A few other coats for anything in between. A few hats for colder days and others for warmer days. Ear muffs and headbands for days where I do not want to mess up my hair, or days where a hat is not appealing. Various scarves depending on which coat I am wearing and various gloves depending on how cold it is and whether I am driving, walking or taking public transit.

Change it up and do not be afraid to have fun with winter.

*** PS. Keep Moisturizer for your hands and lips everywhere you go. It’s a MUST. ***

It’s gym-time ! (in a fahionista way)

It seems as if everyones New Year resolution was to get fit !

So with everyone heading to the gym, I have noticed a few fashion no-nos.These are common mistakes fashionistas seem to make. Try to avoid them :)

1) Don’t wear makeup or bronzer at the gym. It really doesn’t do anything for you unless you’re planning on sitting in front of the AC the whole time. If you’re working out, you will sweat. If you’re sweating, you’ll need to wipe it off. By wiping off, I mean just the sweat, not half your face. Just put on a bit of thermal spring water spray.Embrace your natural beauty.

2) Get nice running shoes! Keds or Converses won’t boost or maximize your workout. It doesn’t have to be a super expensive pair of Adidas or Nike just something that supports your feet during your workout.

3) Avoid sweatpants!I know i sound like a huge hater on sweatpants, but unless your are just going to be working your arms or abs, don’t wear sweatpants. It’s honestly motivating to see the way your legs and thighs tighten when your doing squats, lunges or running. I’m not saying to get those tiny shorts volleyball players wear, but even leggings work. As long as you’re not floating and hiding your shape.

4) Be hairless.Men can rock that hairy armpits while doing dumbbells at the gym. However, you can’t honey.

5) Gym etiquette is a must. Clean your machine after using it. I dont care whether you sweat or not, whether you used it for 10 or 50 minutes just give it a quick wipe.

6) Last but not least, Know your body girlies. Don’t work too hard or not hard enough. Figure out how the machines works and know what part of your body they’re working. If you need help, get a trainer for just a few sessions, ask someone around or check out Youtube or Google.

IT’S RESOLUTION TIMMEE !!!

If you’re like me, you’re sitting around, being last minute and not getting ready for your LAST EVENT OF 2011…

So here’s a little something to read and NOT DO IN 2012. You don’t have to necessarily agree with me, but I think these few resolutions won’t harm.

1.WEAR MORE ACCESSORIES.

You could be wearing just normal fitted jeans with a plain t-shirt. Add a statement ring, watch and hair piece and you look FABULOUS. Accessories also include nails, makeup, shoes and bag girlies. They all make such a difference!Accessories will make or break your outfit.

2. TAKE A RISK.

Fashion wouldn’t evolve if nobody took risks. Try something different. Whether it be shooter hair, bangs, different color schemes… Anything as long as it’s NEW!

3. LEGGINGS ARE NOT PANTS!

Honey, give them a break. The reason why women love jeans is because they are firm, give great support and when you wear the right pair, they make you legs and butt look great. So why opt for those shiny black leggings that do absolutely nothing for your figure?!Put them down once in a while and enjoy jeans or pants.

4. TONE IT DOWN

Wearing brand names doesn’t necessarily make you fashionable. I’m sorry to break it to you but just because you’re in YSL from head to toe including watch, bag and shoes doesn’t mean you look hot. Try to mix thing up once in a while and always make sure the clothes look good on you despite the brand.

Not only will you save but you’ll feel more comfortable knowing you’re not wearing a 1000$ of apparel.

5. NO SWEATPANTS ALLOWED

You are only allowed to wear sweatpants out twice a week. More than that and you’re just not making an effort. As comfortable as they are, they will never be flattering no matter what they’re paired with.

This is our last post of 2011!
